Thai
Taste the flavors of Anna's childhood in northeast Thailand. We're making sticky rice the traditional way, with chicken satay, peanut sauce and somtam the way they do it in Isaan.

About the event
What's the food like?
If you've never had Thai food before, it is fresh, flavorful and tends toward the spicy (though you can modify if you prefer less heat) This class focuses on a menu from northeast Thailand (Isaan) which is a little different from the Bangkok or Chiang Mai food typically served at restaurants in the US.
Our main dish is chicken satay. Often served as an appetizer in restaurants, you can buy it as a street food or eat it for lunch in northeast Thailand. These savory skewers are served with a spicy peanut dipping sauce. We're also making somtam, a spicy papaya salad, using a krok (a large clay mortar and pestle) Everything is eaten with plenty of sticky rice, cooked and served in traditional bamboo baskets. This homestyle menu was taught to us by our food partner Anna, who has lived in Bowling Green since 2022.
