About the event

What's the food like?

Pupusas are round, corn-dough griddle cakes, stuffed with a variety of savory fillings. This Salvadorian (salvadoran is another correct spelling) classic is so popular in latin America that it's often served at Mexican restaurants, although it's technically not Mexican.

We're making bean and cheese pupusas, a very traditional combination, topped with a crunchy slaw-like topping called curtido, and drizzled with homemade salsa. We were taught pupusas by Alma and her friend Bessie, transplants from El Salvador who have lived in Bowling Green for many years.

What's the class experience like?

Our classes are casual, social, and very hands-on. You'll work in a collaborative team of 4 to prepare (and eat) an entire meal. Our instructors will demonstrate and guide you through the process with written and verbal instruction. Come prepared to cook, learn and explore together. We provide all ingredients and equipment (including aprons!)
